Rust Stain Removal

We got a call a couple of weeks ago from a homeowner that wanted to know if we could remove rust stains from vinyl siding.

When we got to the home, we saw how bad it really was.
The home had part of it's air conditioning unit in the attic. There was a condensation pan under this unit that had rusted. When condensation water filled the pan, the water run out an overflow pipe carrying this rust down the side of the house, severely staining it.
The short of it is, Palmetto Home & Deck LLC was able to remove the rust stains making the house look good as new.

We may call ourselves pressure washers, but in reality, pressure has nothing to do with properly and safely cleaning you home. We never started the machine to remove this rust stain. Just like in our house washing, it is our special cleaning solutions that do the cleaning and high pressure is never needed on the side of your home.
For more information about our low pressure cleaning, visit our website at http://www.palmettohomeanddeck.com/

This is the deck stained after the cleaning post below

You can see the cleaning of the deck on the post below this one......But after the deck has been cleaned and allowed to dry out to the ideal moisture content that is precisely checked with an electronic moisture meter, we come in and inspect the deck for popped nails and for any areas that may need sanding.
Once the deck has been inspected and all sanding or other repairs have been performed, we apply a premium contractor grade stain/sealer. We employ several methods for applying the stains we use including brushing, stain pads, or spraying to fit the conditions of the task at hand.

Our favorite stain by Ready Seal penetrates deep into the wood for superior wood protection and lasting beauty. For more information about deck staining visit our website at www.PalmettoHomeAndDeck.com

Proper wood cleaning before sealing

Before any deck is stained , it first needs to be properly cleaned to remove the grayed and decomposed matter that is on top of your wood's surface. If it has been previously stained and depending on the product, the old stain may need to be removed back to new wood before a new stain can be applied to the wood as well.
In this case the wood had never had a stain applied to it, but was only old and gray looking. To remove this old dead wood Palmetto Home & Deck applied our special wood cleaner to the wood and then followed up with a low pressure wash. A low pressure washing along with the right cleaning solutions is generally all that is needed to clean most wood.

You can see the vast difference between the wood that has been cleaned and the wood that hasn't in this picture. Unfortunately, there are plenty contractors that will not properly clean the wood before staining it, but on which side do you think would produce the best results?

Homeowners attempt to strip their deck

Often a homeowner, in an attempt to save money, will attempt to do their own home maintenance in an effort to save money. This is understandable, but unfortunately a pressure washer can cause a lot of damage to your valuable property if not done correctly. Using high pressure to strip stains or paint from your deck is a certain way to destroy the surface of the very wood you are trying to improve.

I received a call from the homeowner of this deck, that once they got started, soon realized that they were getting into trouble. Palmetto Home & Deck LLC come out and applied an Eco-friendly paint stripper to the remainder of the deck and safely removed the solid floor and porch paint using safe and safe low pressure cleaning techniques. We also performed some heavy duty sanding on the damaged portions of the wood which saved the owner a lot of expense by not having to have his deck boards replaced.

Palmetto Home & Deck Cleans Homes Safely

That's one dirty house alright! We are often asked how are we ever going to get a house that dirty clean. Home owners ask questions like how much pressure does it take to clean that yukky stuff off or are going to get up there on a ladder to scrub it off with a brush.

These questions are often based on the experiences a lot of homeowners have had that try to clean their homes themselves. They tell me they bought a pressure washer from a big box type store, but got scared of trying to go up the ladder to scrub the house.

Many people have the impression that professional pressure washing uses the same labor intensive techniques that they would use themselves. Unfortunately, there are some uncaring, unknowing, or unscrupulous people that call themselves pressure washing contractors that think that climbing up ladders and using excessive high pressure on your siding along with a little grocery store brand bleach is all that is needed to clean home's exteriors.

Palmetto Home & Deck cleaned this home from the ground using our safe technique of low pressure and our specially designed cleaning solutions. Using low pressure prevented water being forced into the home around the doors and windows. Using low pressure also prevents water from being driven behind the vinyl siding which can cause mold to form inside the homes exterior walls. Our cleaning solutions not only thoroughly and effectively kill the mold spores, they also clean away the dirt and grime that accumulates on your home's exterior.

When we have cleaned your home, you can rest assured that is has been done safely and correctly. For more information about our cleaning techniques please visit our website at http://www.palmettohomeanddeck.com/ .
